Lamborghini Revuelto: The V12 Hybrid Apex

Sant'Agata Bolognese transitions to the electrified era without sacrificing its screaming twelve-cylinder soul.

Replacing the venerated Aventador was never going to be simple. For Lamborghini, the challenge was adopting the strict emissions regulations that mandate electrification while preserving the raw, emotional theater of a naturally aspirated V12. The answer is the Revuelto, a High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) that utilizes advanced composite structures and a tri-motor layout to deliver staggering performance.

The L545 V12: Lighter, Louder, Faster

At the center of the Revuelto sits the L545 engine, a heavily revised 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12. Lamborghini's engineers rotated the engine 180 degrees compared to the Aventador layout. It now weighs nearly 37 lbs less and produces an astonishing 814 horsepower on its own, making it the most powerful V12 in Lamborghini’s storied history. Critically, it retains an ear-piercing 9,500 rpm redline, ensuring the acoustic drama remains entirely intact.

The Tri-Motor E-4WD Layout

To cross the 1,000 horsepower threshold, the V12 is supplemented by three axial flux electric motors. The traditional mechanical four-wheel-drive system has been discarded. Instead, a central battery pack is housed in what used to be the transmission tunnel. Two electric motors are mounted on the front axle, providing full e-AWD capability and sophisticated torque vectoring (Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo 2.0).

The third electric motor is integrated into the brand-new transverse 8-speed dual-clutch transmission located behind the V12. This motor handles starting the engine, generating power for the battery, and assisting the rear wheels, all while doubling as the vehicle's reverse gear.

Monofuselage Chassis

To manage the complex hybrid architecture, Lamborghini developed an entirely new carbon-fiber chassis dubbed the "monofuselage." Inspired by aeronautical engineering, the front structure is crafted entirely from forged composites—a material technology Lamborghini has pioneered. This structural shift results in a 25% increase in torsional stiffness over the Aventador, while simultaneously reducing the weight of the frame by 10%.

Driving Emotion in the Hybrid Era

Through its complex software integration, the Revuelto offers 13 different dynamic settings, managed via the steering wheel rotors. Modes range from Città (City), which operates the car in pure electric silence, to Corsa (Race) with the hybrid system operating at peak output to deliver the full 1001 horsepower.

Lamborghini has successfully proved that hybridization is not a muted compromise. The Revuelto leverages electric motors to eliminate the low-end torque deficit inherent in high-revving naturally aspirated engines, creating a hypercar that honors its heritage while dominating the modern technological landscape.
